To apply for this position, please use the following link: POSITION SUMMARY Regents School of Austin is seeking to fill the position of Athletic Fields Groundskeeper. The Athletic Fields Groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of Regent’s athletic fields, including short and long-term maintenance planning. The Athletic Fields Groundskeeper will ensure that these grounds are kept in top condition for full and productive use by performing daily turf, dirt and water management. The Athletic Fields Groundskeeper will also assist the Operations department year-round. This is a full-time, 12-month position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Direct the maintenance and repair of the playing field that includes, but is not limited to turfgrass management, sod cutting and installation, irrigation management, mowing, trimming, the use of blowers, fertilizing, aerating, top-dressing, over-seeding, discovery/control of weeds/insects, field markings and painting, infield, mound and home plate maintenance. Maintains inventory of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, pesticides, grass seed and other grounds related supplies. Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material [OSHA]. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of power equipment including reel and rotary mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, backpack blowers, trimmers, top-dressers, aerators, bobcats. Operate and maintain all equipment in a safe manner and keep in excellent working condition Oversee the preparation of the playing field for practices: oversee the preparation of the playing field for game use by grooming and marking fields, chalking paths, painting lines, etc. Maintain a positive relationship with all internal employees and external vendors Develop a relationship with home and visiting managers to coordinate pre-game activities. Maintain city Pest Control Management Plan and provide ground inspections and maintenance records ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS The successful Head Groundskeeper candidate will have experience and expertise in the following: A high school diploma required: (5) years of Sports Turf Management experience preferred. Displays a Christian maturity that demonstrates a desire and capacity to create a healthy environment. Prior experience in the supervision of grounds of at least 50,000 Square Feet Licensed Irrigator preferred Skillful Microsoft and Excel technologies Ability to operate ground equipment safely Maintain accreditation in fertilization and pest control management Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of school staff. Ability to read chemical labels and material safety data sheets (MSDS). WORKING CONDITIONS Twelve month working schedule with paid school holidays and vacation in accordance with Employee Handbook and supervisor’s approval of leave of absences. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: Position requires the incumbent to be physically strong and in good health and capable of 8 hours’ work daily Requires prolonged sitting or standing. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects greater than 35 lbs. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching. Requires climbing and balancing. Must work indoors and outdoors year-round. Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors. Must be able to drive a mechanical vehicle.
