God loves you and wants to save you. You can be saved and reconciled to God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, His Son, Who died for your sins on the cross when He was crucified. He can give you eternal life. John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." When a person is saved by placing their trust / faith / belief in the Lord Jesus Christ (who is the Son of God) as their savior and what he accomplished for them with his Death/burial/resurrection (further detailed below), the Holy Spirit will indwell the new believer. 1. Recognize that you are a guilty sinner (as all of us are - Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23) in the sight of a holy God and are under God's wrath. We have all sinned and need the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ to save us. (Galatians 3:26, John 6:28-29, Ephesians 2:8-9). Sin separates us from God. You cannot save yourself and sin has a penalty: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23 KJV). Additionally, the Bible also says: "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15 KJV) 2. God sent His only begotten Son to die for the sins of humanity. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Messiah. Jesus was crucified on the cross and died, was buried, and was raised bodily from the dead (resurrected) three days later. He died for your sins. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV). Jesus Christ died for YOU. (Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.) Salvation is a free gift of God. You cannot "earn" your way to heaven by your own merits (Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus was perfect and DID NOT SIN. He was sent to be the propitiatory sacrifice for the sins of mankind. 3. Believe on Jesus Christ/REPENT toward God - Put your faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Messiah, as your Savior to give you eternal life and to save you from your sins (Mark 16:16-----see also: John 6:29, John 6:40, Romans 5:1, John 3:18). Believe that Jesus died on the cross and that God physically raised Him from the dead. (Romans 10:9-10)*. Believe that He paid the price for your sins and took the punishment you deserve in your place. His literal blood has the power to cleanse you of sin. Mark 16:16 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. John 3:18 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Acts 16:29-31 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Note: After the crucifixion on the cross, Jesus was buried. Three days later God raised Him from the dead (was physically/bodily resurrected). Later on, Jesus then ascended to Heaven and He is now at the right hand of God the Father.
