The Detail/Pre-Delivery Inspection Services Manager is responsible for the effective leadership and management of the vehicle detail and pre-delivery inspections (“PDI”) services provided to all of the Korum Automotive Group franchises, working in a coordinated effort with the applicable Sales and Service Managers. This position manages the production activities of the detail and PDI operations, ensures appropriate departmental procedures and operating practices are documented and in use, coordinates the scheduling of all personnel, ensures adequate tools and supplies are available and maintained, ensures highly trained staff, ensures that the detail and PDI services being provided meet quality, quantity, and timely delivery expectations, and that the detail and PDI shops operate with appropriate safety practices and are kept in a clean and orderly fashion. The position is also required to exhibit high quality detailing skills and is expected to log production hours by personally perform detailing/PDI services approximately 60 – 70% of the time. Typical Duties Include: Works with the assigned General Manager to develop overall departmental plans, goals, budgets, staffing requirements, and departmental practices and performance standards (i.e. productivity, quality control, workflow, safety, etc.). Also develops and documents applicable procedures/practices for departmental personnel to follow. Provides oversight and direction to all departmental personnel, including but not limited to hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, performance management, and terminations. Coordinates departmental personnel workflow and personally completes vehicle detailing services including, but not limited to: new and used vehicles in preparation for the sales floor / display lots and customer deliveries, protection products (e.g., paint, fabric/leather protection), PDI services, and customer paid/retail detailing services (e.g., interior and exterior detailing; including vacuum, shampoo, buffing, and waxing). Ensures adequate “quality control checks” are in place and coordinates such with the Sales and Service Managers using check lists and/or other applicable processes. Reviews and reports to the assigned General Manager the Detail Services Department’s productivity and quality results (i.e., monitors and manages the performance of the department using daily operating control efficiency and productivity reports). Oversees the day-to-day relationships with tool/equipment providers and other suppliers, and conducts initial negotiations of contracts and related purchases, all subject to the assigned General Manager’s approval. Oversees assigned supplies, and manages assigned supplies inventory, to support the detail and PDI shop’s goals. Tracks supply consumption, reorder points, and handles reordering directly with providers. Understands, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect hazardous waste disposal, safety data sheets, personal protective equipment use, First Aid, CPR and the proper use of and location of AED device, etc. Ensures appropriate and timely opening and closing of the detail and PDI shops each day, including locking/securing of vehicles and premises. Maintains good housekeeping in the detail and PDI shops as well as the assigned car wash, pressure wash, and vehicle staging/storage areas. Exercises an appropriate level of courtesy, tact, and professional communications in dealing with others. Contributes to a favorable public image of Korum Automotive Group by establishing and maintaining professional relationships and participation in the community (e.g., with civic, non-profit, and industry organizations). Contributes toward effective team problem solving with other employees and management (“don’t do business alone”). Consistently demonstrates the Korum Automotive Group’s corporate values; encourages and coaches others to consistently demonstrate corporate values and meet performance expectations. The ideal candidate will have the following: High School Diploma or Equivalent Two years detail shop experience One year of supervisory experience Ability to learn and utilize software programs used by the dealership Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
