Job Description The position of Custodian is part-time, with the possibility of increasing to full-time. The Custodian is responsible for aiding the Siena Development staff in daily and weekly cleaning and operations of two small laboratories. Duties are geared toward maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. This position plays an integral part in ensuring smooth operations of the company. Since we are a food production company, familiarity or certification in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is a plus. A successful candidate for this role is respectful, professional, flexible, an excellent team player, detail oriented, takes initiative, and shows a desire to learn. Work Hours: This part-time position can range from 10-20 hours per week, depending on the candidate’s availability. Flexible days/hours are possible. Salary: Hourly rate commensurate with experience. Responsibilities may include: General cleaning of office and lab areas. Break down pallets, boxes, shipping materials to maintain tidy lab and storage areas. Loading/unloading and preparing of materials/supplies, and assembly, disassembly, cleaning, and storing of equipment. Assist in maintaining inventories and records of ingredients and supplies. Maintain inventory levels of supplies and special equipment. Cleaning & maintenance of general equipment. Coordinate routine cleaning & maintenance of specialized lab equipment. Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision. Maintain and update cleaning logs and/or maintenance logs, including those required by FDA, NY State Agriculture & Markets, and federal/state COVID-19 regulatory requirements Requirements include: Working knowledge and experience operating tools and appliances like those that would be found in kitchens, e.g. steam mops, vacuum cleaners, dish washers, as well as larger equipment like pallet jacks (forklifts a plus). Previous related experience, preferred. Detail oriented. Fluent in English (speaking/reading) May include lifting up to 35 lbs. Ability to walk, sit, and/or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the company Exercises good judgment, initiative, and decision-making. Working knowledge of basic computer applications, especially Microsoft Word and Excel. Background check and drug screen required. Work authorization: United States (required).
