For more information on Tommy’s, visit our website at www.gettommys.com Summary The Forklift Driver/Yard Porter is responsible for the organization and maintenance of Tommy’s boat lot. The Yard Porter is responsible for safely operating company tractors, fork lifts, and vehicles to keep the lot in order and presentable for customers. Essential duties and responsibilities Maintain boat lot organization and cleanliness Organize the boat lot in a way that maintains an ease of access for both the service and the sales team Deliver boats to specific locations Move boats from at least 19’ – 26’ in length with company vehicles, tractors, and fork lifts Communicate and assist customers in a friendly, outgoing fashion, providing them with clear and honest information Deliver parts and boats as needed Transfer service materials from delivery trucks into the shop as needed Maintain constant communication with the service team Assist in the shop’s organization and cleanliness Maintain a positive attitude and be a productive member of our team Provide our customers with a positive service experience Maintain a safe and clean work environment Be able to work independently and efficiently Be comfortable using a wide range of shop tools and equipment Abide by all safety regulations, laws, and company policies Promote the Tommy’s brand Any other requests from supervisor Knowledge, Skills, Abilities To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Trailering: ability to trailer boats safely and efficiently, as well as launch them into the water. Communication: ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and company personnel, able to clearly and effectively communicate information both orally and in writing Organization: ability to effectively organize the boat lot in an effective manner for all departments of Tommy’s, and for Tommy’s customers. Humility: ability to honestly and openly communicate any mistakes or mishaps made and have the ability to learn from them. The shop can be moderately dirty, in the winters is it colder and in the summer it can be hot. Outdoor work is expected. Work performed on water is also expected Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit or crouch for extended periods of time and regularly required to walk. Employee regularly uses hands and fingers to touch, feel, handle. Employee regularly stoops, kneels, bend at the waist, and reaches. Employee is frequently required to speak and hear. Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds on occasion.
