Up Tree Care is looking for a motivated individual with a solid work ethic to join our team as a ground worker (groundie). For anyone interested in the field of urban forestry or arboriculture, this is an excellent opportunity to get experience and learn skills from ISA Certified Arborists. Our season ends in mid-November, so this is technically a temp position. If it's a good fit we will arrange for full-time reemployment on March 1st. Job duties: • Dragging and feeding brush and logs into a tow-behind wood chipper • Cutting limbs and bucking downed trees with a chainsaw • Supporting tree climbers from the ground – tying knots, pulling ropes, clearing brush • Jobsite cleanup – raking, dragging loaded tarps, shoveling and leaf-blowing Applicant must have: • Current driver’s license in good standing (no DUIs preferred) • A reliable vehicle (or transportation to/from our Kalispell location) • Strength to wield a 20+ lb. chainsaw., and occasionally lift up to 80+ lbs. • Ability/energy to effectively perform physical labor for up to 8 hours, 3-4 days/week Preferred applicants are: • Punctual and committed to showing up for work • Team player, safety-oriented, problem-solver, sense of humor • Experienced with a chainsaw • Interested in learning about tree climbing, urban forestry and arboriculture • Non-smoker *Please note that we do not allow smoking or smoke breaks on jobsites, period.
