Description
As DC's new ban on ivory sales goes into effect, we'll make sure that our city no longer contributes to the rampant wildlife trade
On October 1, 2021, the Elephant Ivory and Rhinoceros Horn Trafficking Prohibition Act goes into effect, at which point sales of ivory and rhino horn are illegal in DC. This is a momentous step in cutting off one of the region's largest markets of ivory sales. DCVFA Ed Fund will lead a walk to stores that may sale ivory to make them aware of the new law. With nearly 100 elephants being killed every day, we must take action to protect these endangered species.
Details: RSVP to join us as we walk to different stores and hand out flyers with information for business owners on the new law. We want to make sure they are fully informed so that they do not continue ivory/rhino horn sales or have difficulty with the law. Some businesses will be closed by 5:00pm--if you don't want to go into a store, we will need people to drop off flyers at those stores.
