Join us as we discover the glamorous movie palace & entertainment past of Chicago's Uptown neighborhood Join Leyla Royale of Effing Chicago for an in-person (!) walking tour of Uptown's fabulous entertainment history! We'll stop at various sites of old movie palaces, ballrooms, and jazz clubs (some gone, some still here) and learn about the development of this very 1920s neighborhood, its connections to early cinema, take a stroll through an outdoor art gallery, and see the future of Uptown as it is being constructed. FAQ We'll start at Everybody's Coffee and end by Broadway and Lawrence.The tour will cover about a mile walking distance, so wear your walking shoes.Rain or shine! Bring appropriate clothing in case of inclement weather. We'll follow CDC guidelines. If the CDC recommends masks outdoors, please bring a mask to wear to participate. (Never a bad idea to wear one, regardless!)Please be vaccinated!
