We do have several fans and misters in the space, but it does heat up as we dance. *just a heads up that this space is traditionally a dog photography studio, so it may not be the best for somebody with extreme allergies or a dog phobia (there are pictures of very photogenic dogs on the walls lol)* PARKING Please do not park in the shershow studios lot. There is 4 hour parking available in a neighboring lot, and 2 hour parking available on the street. ART SHARE/MARKET Please feel free to bring any portable artwork or items you would like to sell or simply share before or after the event. We have dedicated a portion of the space to artwork for sale by fellow dancers. there will be snacks & juice to start the morning. please feel free to bring any offerings you would like to contribute! SOCIAL AGREEMENTS 1. Masks are required unless briefly drinking or eating while distancing. This is an indoor gathering. You will be turned away at the door if you refuse to protect your fellow dancers! Please do not come if you have potentially been exposed to COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms. 2. Opening and closing the dance together honors community and allows us to truly connect with each other. 3. You are encouraged to make lots of noise on the dance floor, but please only engage in conversation in the rest space, or step outside for louder/longer conversations and phone calls. 4. Barefoot dancing is encouraged. 5. NO photography/videography on the dance floor. 6. Ecstatic dance is traditionally a substance-free event. However, it is your personal choice if you would like to reach your own natural state of ecstasy (the host is a medical marijuana user). Please remain present and responsible, and DO NOT use substances on the property itself. 7. Contact improv and partner work is encouraged, but consent is mandatory. When dancing with others, listen for a yes (holding eye contact), and respect any no (like being ignored). Respect each dancer’s right to their own space. Hands in prayer at heart means: “I see you, and thank you for the dance (that just ended).“ this gathering was created with the following intentions in mind that are crucial to defining what exactly this spaces signifies: 1. In this space, our definition of wellness is universal. We believe that meditation and other spiritual practices are not a luxury reserved for the white, cis, straight, and wealthy to consume. 2. In this space, we respect the sanctity of others’ cultural practices, and refrain from committing cultural or spiritual theft/appropriation. 3. In this space, we ask ourselves: how do our relationships with new age mind-body-spirit practices feed into capitalist structures rooted in colonization? Are we seeking knowledge, sacred experiences, meaningful practices, and “high vibrations” for the sake of personal enlightenment or for the sake of collective humanity? ecstatic dance for all ages ʕ ꈍᴥꈍʔ ☆
