Description

Join Melissa Myers, candidate of State Representative, District 45 and Quick The Poet for a night poetry and live music at Bar 5 Lounge. For over a decade, Melissa has played an active role within the Central Florida Community. From revitalizing neighborhoods to protesting for those whose voices often go unheard, Melissa has been on the front lines. Throughout this pandemic, Melissa spearheaded food drives, advocated for improved treatment of Ocoee Firefighters, and partnered with the Ocoee Police Department to bridge the gap between the community and rising social issues. Melissa’s passion for her community prompted her to run for State Representative – District 45. “Let’s Put Our Passion Into Action” is a message that Melissa reverberates. No longer will we sit back and wait for what is due to us. Instead, our focus will be to put our PASSION INTO ACTION. Join us for a fundraiser a night of poetry and live music with Candidate for State Representative – District 45, Melissa Stephanie Myers and Quick The Poet. Myers served as campaign manager for the 2020 reelection of Ocoee City Commissioner George Oliver III, and has received training through Mark Mills‘ Political Leadership Institute, offered by the Orlando Economic Partnership. She also has worked with the Ocoee Professional Firefighters Union, Local 3623, and the Ocoee Police Department, and helped organize food drives in the area. “Even before Ocoee I was always very active in my community. Now that I’m aware of various issues happening around us, I decided it was time for me to take it to the next level,” Myers said. For her, those issues start with promoting more youth programs, developing job training, and providing more mental health services.
