County, YCOE Hosting Parent Webinar on School Safety

Woodland, CA - Parents and guardians are invited to attend an upcoming webinar on September 13 at 6:00 p.m. to receive direct information from the Yolo County public health officer and superintendent of schools regarding school safety and updated COVID-19 guidelines. The virtual event will be held on Facebook Live and Zoom. During the webinar, Yolo County Public Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson will provide an overview of the health and safety measures that will keep schools safe for children and youth. The webinar will also feature Garth Lewis, County Superintendent of Schools, and Jennifer Sheehan, school nurse with Woodland Joint Unified School District. The webinar will provide an overview on contact tracing in schools and how parents can screen their child for COVID-19 symptoms at home. Additional topics to be covered include masking in schools, vaccinations, testing, and the protocols surrounding isolation and quarantine. Sisson said, "Keeping children safely in school is a priority of mine as Yolo County Health Officer. As a community, we need to do everything we can to make schools safe for our children so they can remain in classrooms learning, connecting, developing, and thriving." The webinar is designed for parents and guardians of students but is open to all members of the community. The webinar begins at 6 p.m. on Facebook Live at facebook.com/YoloCOE.
