I'm a Sicilian American born in Tampa FL that has found that our people have a rich mutual aid, socialist and anarchist history, including the birth of Ybor City, a once radical society built in worker, class and racial solidarity. Today, many Italians are conservatives, xenophobes and have a weird worship of Christopher Columbus. This isn't the legacy I believe in for our people. I'd like to meet up with other Italian Americans and Sicilian Americans who want to do the following: ➡️Learn and teach the radical history of Ybor City and national Italian socialist and anarchists ➡️Make reparations for the Italian role in anti Blackness and anti Native violence. This includes dedication to anti racism and fighting against racist monuments from Columbus to confederates. ➡️Connect with the Italian and Sicilian languages. ➡️Explore Italian Socialism present and past ➡️Discuss the radical history of L'Unione Italiana and dream what modern mutual aid societies might look like. ➡️Political Education I'm looking to meet with Italians and Sicilians who would like to build this and truly want to change the legacy of the Italian American. Italians and Sicilians who love our culture, our history, our struggle enough to fight for what's right. This is an early vision, so I'd love to meet with people who have a leftist vision and a love for Italian people and all people. I'm looking for people who want to reclaim our mutual aid roots and build the society that the Fasci Siciliani fought for post Italian unification. Afro Italians are strongly encouraged to join!
