Need help from locals - please read

My son is ready to come home (NC) from the Anchorage area He cannot drive his car out (no passport) What’s the best/cheapest way to do that? Any company recommendations? Should he take a ferry to Washington state and then go from there or is it just less hassle to ship it the entire way? He’ll need to include some personal items in the car Probably best not to add 4000 miles to the car by finding someone to drive it for him, not to mention the cost of gas/food/hotels and risk of accident/break-down Any advice, tips, etc will be most appreciated
