Description

Through beautiful images, explore how museums and historic sites have made history come alive through landscape and garden rejuvenation. What can the New England cultural landscape and historic gardens tell us about people, places and the plants they treasure? Through beautiful images, come explore ways in which museums and historic sites have made history come alive through landscape and garden rejuvenation projects from Newport to Bar Harbor. The region's garden and landscape legacy is rich and varied. Sometimes called a 'three dimensional textbook of history' these spaces open new opportunities for understanding the past and inviting others to join in its exploration. LUCINDA A. BROCKWAY is an award-winning expert in landscape preservation, planning, and design dedicated to preserving the rich natural and cultural balance that creates New England’s landscape legacy. She designed the rejuvenation of the Skolfield-Whittier Garden. Pejepscot History Center is a non-profit, educational organization charged with preserving the collective heritage of Brunswick, Harpswell, and Topsham. The Society owns and operates the Joshua L. Chamberlain House Museum and the Skolfield-Whittier House, both of which are open to the public Memorial Day-Columbus Day.
