Description
Simba was picked up 09/01/2021 after being on the streets for 3 days prior - from what we know. He was found Los Reales / Sorrel. We have scanned him for a chip and he does not have one, he had no tags or anything on him. While we are still looking for his owners, we cannot house Simba any longer and need a rescue to step in and take him from us. Simba has Separation Anxiety and is Dog Selective. We would like to see him be worked with on these issues though we are trying our best currently. He is posted on Pawboost, HSSAZ, and PACC as well as lost and found groups on FB. Please do not message me with 'tips' on where to post him or what else to do. Everything we can do, has been done. WE ARE LOOKING FOR A RESCUE / FOSTER HOME. HIS NEUTER AND CHIPPING WILL BE SPONSERED ALREADY. ----- 🐾PERSONALITY🐾 Simba is an easy going guy who needs a lot of TLC. He currently needs a lot of work in terms of behavioral training. One of Simba’s fears is coyotes. He trembles and becomes restless when he hears them. Currently, Simba is displaying separation anxiety and dog selectiveness. He does very well in the house and lets you know when he needs to potty, however accidents do happen. Despite living with two dogs currently, he does not know how to play with dogs or toys but he is learning! He’s currently in his awkward stage and tries his best. Overall, Simba loves kids and would do well in a house with older children. He currently lives with two 9 year olds and two dogs that are smaller than he is. Simba does not really jump onto the bed, couches, or even into the car, and is really surprised at himself when he does. Simba is a man’s dog, we believe. He warms up easily to men and takes a bit longer to some women. 🐾HEALTH & GROOMING🐾 Simba is unaltered, unchipped. He was found with ticks on him and what we assume is slight muscle atrophy of his hind end which is what we assume is the reason he doesn’t jump onto things. He is not a fan of the bathtub but does not struggle too much either. I believe training him will be easy enough with it. 🐾REQUIREMENTS🐾 Training :: Simba is going to need someone who is willing to work on his Separation Anxiety and Dog Selectivity. His Separation Anxiety has him taking things off the counters and tables, getting into the trash can and crying. He becomes pretty restless and will wander around whining. His Dog Selectivity is tricky. He likes the two dogs he lives with, and I believe it’s due to them being smaller than he is. When meeting my Siberian Husky and Great Pyrenees puppy, he became stiff and guarded. Lunging and barking at them. We removed them and he immediately crawled into my lap and sat there. Door Manners are a HUGE must. Simba will escape without hesitation. This also includes car windows. He will try (and succeed) to crawl out of an open car window whether it is moving or not. We are working on his door manners but if he is going outside, he needs to be leashed before the door is opened. That being said, he knows how to sit and walk on his leash. Simba can walk up and down the stairs easily, but new places he will maybe need some luring. We use a harness to walk him, and I would highly suggest only using a harness as he is prone to escaping. Hope of Deliverance will sponsor a neuter for this handsome guy. You can also fill out a courtesy application so we can forward it or if you’re a rescue who has room, let us know!
