Description
Join Marin Stargazers at Piper Park in Larkspur on Sunday September 12 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm for a free public astronomy evening! Volunteers will be on hand with telescopes to share beautiful views of the night sky featuring Venus, the Moon, Saturn, Jupiter and more. We will be set up on the grassy field adjacent to the north end of the parking lot.
The Moon will be visible starting at 7:30 pm and as it gets darker by 8 pm our main program will begin. A sky tour will orient you to the bright stars and constellations of the summer sky. We will give a short tutorial how to use binoculars to view the night sky - we provide the binoculars for the evening, or feel free to bring your own. Then detailed observations with telescopes of the craters and mountains on the Moon, and by 8:30 - 9 pm Saturn with its rings and Jupiter with its four bright moons will be higher in the sky to view. This is a family friendly event, just bring a little curiosity!
