NORWALK, CT — This year's Democratic primary in Norwalk features a four-way race for Councilmen (District C) between Tyler Fairbairn, Jenn McMurrer, John Kydes and Jennifer McAllister. Patch asked the candidates to answer questions about their campaigns ahead of the primary which is slated for Tuesday, Sept. 14. Jennifer McAllister, 49, is seeking the Democratic Party nomination for Norwalk Common Council (District C). Occupation: Corporate Finance Family: I am married and have lived in District C for sixteen years and is the mother of two boys who attend Naramake Elementary School and P-Tech at Norwalk High School. Experience: Member of the Oak Hills Park Authority and member of the DTC Family in government: No The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: Keeping Norwalk affordable and safe for all who want to live here. I want to be a part of the team and have a voice for decisions that are made that will effect the living/financial situations of our residents. We need to ensure that we are taking into consideration the needs of the many that will benefit everyone both long term as well as short term. Critical differences between me and my opponents: I am a firm believer that we can accomplish more when we work together. Asking the questions and understanding all the potential impacts. Partnering with teams that are experts in the area and listening to the individuals that will be effected by the decisions. Accomplishments: I have proven the ability to ask the questions to gain new perspective on areas to make informed decisions. I believe in looking at every situation from both a quality of life impact as well as a financial impact. Other issues: As a mother, a resident, and an active member of the Norwalk Community, I have a strong passion to work hard to ensure that Norwalk remains a city this is affordable and safe for all families and that our schools receive the necessary funding needed to be certain that all children are given the support they need to succeed. I believe that our children not only need funding for academic purposes but also for their social and emotional well-being, and especially while living through a pandemic. What else would you like voters to know about you? Given the opportunity to represent District C, I will work diligently to be sure that decisions are made that will benefit the city for all who live there while working with community members to understand their needs.
