GREENWICH, CT — A new phase of the Old Greenwich Common Force Main Replacement Project began on Friday, according to the Greenwich Department of Public Works. Work Zone 1 and Work Zone 2 were completed ahead of time. New construction in Work Zone 3 is located on Summit Road between Oval Avenue and Spruce Street. A temporary road closure will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, according to an update from Greenwich DPW. Depending on weather and unforeseen conditions, Work Zone 3 is anticipated to be completed in approximately three to four weeks. DPW recommends residents give themselves a little extra time when traveling, and that they stay vigilant for signage and detours posted. Additional Information About the Project "Department of Public Works, Sewer Division, strives to provide reliable service to the Town and implement important maintenance projects that protect the environment. This is an essential project that will improve the longevity and reliability of the most critical sewer force main in the Town of Greenwich's sewer system," DPW said in a news release. The segment of the Old Greenwich Common Force Main for this project carries wastewater under pressure from the Old Greenwich Pumping Station – Greenwich's largest sewer pump station. There are six work zone sections comprised in this project, starting from the west and progressing east. The anticipated completion date of all six work zone sections is December 2021.
