ROMEOVILLE, IL — A 38-year-old was shot to death after Romeoville police said they received a 911 call from a HighPoint resident saying the man was trying to break into an apartment. Police said officers who arrived at the apartment just after 12:30 p.m. Saturday found four adults, along with the deceased 38-year-old, who appeared to have forced his way inside. Police said the man is believed to be a family member of two residents of the apartment. The residents were taken to the Romeoville Police Department for questioning. The residents remain in police custody pending further investigation. Police said they have no reason to believe there is any risk to the community. Officials did not give the 38-year-old's name, but said he suffered a gunshot wound. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday, the Will County Coroner's Office said. Romeoville police are investigating, and the person's name has not been released pending notification of family. The death is the third fatal shooting connected to Romeoville in just two weeks. Zamir Williams, 20, was found fatally shot on Honeytree Drive on Aug. 27. A 19-year-old has been charged in connection with his death. On Wednesday, police responded to a report of a gunshot victim in a vehicle near Taylor and Weber roads, and later reported that Romeoville resident Dennis Lee, 24, was fatally shot by someone inside the SUV. An arrest was made Friday in Lee's death. Romeoville police stressed that all three incidents are believed to be isolated.
