NORTH CAROLINA — Lidl US has joined forces with a North Carolina teen in a new campaign to help provide 100,000 notebooks to underserved schools, the grocer announced. As part of the initiative, Lidl shoppers, including those at nine Charlotte metro locations, will have an opportunity to buy and donate a bundle of five notebooks for $2.50 when they arrive at the store's checkout. The donations will be matched by Lidl and donated to Kids In Need Foundation. The initiative was spearheaded by teen Jack Werdann of Weddington, North Carolina, who last year donated 45,000 notebooks to needy students through his Notebooks For Kids fundraising campaign. "Lidl is proud to support Jack's Notebook for Kids initiative, and we are inspired by his campaign to get back to school supplies to students locally and across the country that need these items for a successful school year," Tanja Novakovic, Lidl Steele Creek Store Manager, said in a statement. "We look forward to working together with our customers to help reach Jack's goal of 100,000 notebooks for Kids in Need Foundation."
