Description
Looking for - Play bass/6 string guitar (either rhythm or lead) in a rock n roll\indie or funk band. My biggest influences growing up were The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and I quickly got into playing slap bass and finger style rock bass (I can also use a plectrum). Later my tastes turned to metal (e.g. Metallica, Dream Theater) and then to classic rock n roll (e.g. The Who, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin). I'd ideally like to continue in the classic rock\indie style and would also be open to funk influences, allowing me to use the slap bass style which I enjoy.
Experience - I have been playing bass guitar for 16 years and electric guitar for 12 years. I started playing in bands when I was 12 and have experience playing a number of styles/genres (e.g. rock, metal, funk, jazz, classical). My focus was primarily on original material (I have also composed although this is not my strong suit), but I have experience playing covers as well (e.g. as part of a cover band or mixed in with original sets). Most notably I played bass for a rock n roll band called "Tokyo Corner" for 7 years (that's me and the drummer in the pic), writing our own music, touring our music round the UK (e.g. The Cockpit (Leeds) and Live at Leeds festival) and recording a number of e.p's along the way (I have much studio experience). I also achieved a Grade 8 music performance certificate (the highest grade in the UK) for bass guitar when I was 18. Tokyo Corner split late 2015. Since then, I've managed to play one gig in America, but due to band troubles that band also split recently. We almost finished recording an album, so I may be able to send that over if it gets mixed, or just the rough tracks.
Equipment - I have my bass and 6 string with me in the states (an American Fender Jazz and Ibanez Jem), and an Ashdown amp with speaker. Also can drive.
