Description

I'm crazy about this floof; he is my spirit animal. But I am moving across the country so have to find him a good home. He's in great shape, as curious as ever, and I've never had to take him to the vet—no teeth issues, no digestive issues ever. While of course he is a prey animal and likes to hide in his box, he's one of the most social chinchillas I've encountered. He hasn't bitten me once ever; he acts sassy but is so sweet. He'll hop on most people's shoulder and, although it can take him a while to warm up to new people, finds people very fascinating. We play games daily where I'll make a bridge between pieces of furniture with my arms and legs and he'll climb on me. Him walking across my back is the most relaxing thing I've felt in my life. Ideally he'd go to someone experienced with chinchillas or rabbits; experience with other prey animals like Guinea pigs could be OK too. It's just an entirely different vibe and set of expectations from dogs or cats and I want someone who understands that. He has a highly customized 5' tall Ferret Nation 142 cage, many boxes of hay and treats that should last a good while, and a box tunnel he loves to run through. I feel great that I've given him a great life after adopting him when he was 2 and I want his quality of life to continue. I try to let him run around free at least about an hour a day. (If you have a stairway he can run up and down, he'd love that too.) While chinchilla lifespans vary wildly (the oldest I've heard of was 27, although they often only live to 8), I'd guess he has about 4 four more years, as 17 is a common age after they've made it to 13. So I expect him to be a around a good while without being the kind of long-term commitment a rabbit would be. If you're looking for some quality, quiet, cozy company with strong MOOD and this ad speaks to you, reach out and let's talk. To start with, let me know your location and your experience with chinchillas and other relevant animals. Thanks for reading!
