Description

Sister and brother, Sara and Sean Watkins join us on the Bronson Green on September 18th September 18th- The Watkins Family Hour-Returning to the studio as Watkins Family Hour, Sean and Sara Watkins consider brother sister a duo-centric record – yet one that feels bigger than just two people. “From the beginning, our goal was to work on these songs to be as strong as they could be, just the two of us,” Sara explains. “And with a few exceptions on the record, that’s really how things were. Moving from one landscape to the next – literally and musically — is nothing new to Sean and Sara Watkins, who have performed separately and together for nearly their whole lives. Growing up near San Diego, they played countless shows at a local pizza place in Carlsbad, California, with their childhood friend, Chris Thile. As young adults, those three musicians broke out nationally as Nickel Creek, an acoustic ensemble that sold millions of albums, won a Grammy, and toured the world. “It felt really good to dig into the potential of two people,” Sara says. The arrangements and the writing were all focused on that. Listening now, I’m really proud of what we did. These are songs that would not have come out of either one of us individually, and it feels like a band sound, like this is what we do, the two of us.” However, brother sister remains exactly that – the result of a brother and sister creating music. SO...this was originally billed as an early and late show, but as you know this darn virus is not letting up. I have been working with team Watkins to come up with a solution to find a safe way to do the show...outside! We feel outside is the best way to keep everyone safe and still enjoy the talents of Sara and Sean Watkins. So this is what we are going to do. We have decided to combine the shows into one show at 6:30, gates opening at 6pm. This show is on the Bronson Green next to the Historic Bronson Church. Parking is a short walk from the G.A.R. Hall parking lot...or...across the street at 1685 Main Street, (formerly Yellow Creek Trading Co.), If someone needs handicap accomodations, please e-mail me and we will work something out for you. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON CENTER STREET. If you have a ticket, and this new time and location works for you, you DO NOT have to contact me, your ticket is good! If you would like a refund, I am happy to help with that, just e-mail me at [email protected] and I am sorry we could not make this work for you. You can bring your own picnic, we will have some refreshments available for purchase or donation or you can bring your own. Please bring your favorite lawn chair or favorite blanket. OK...so now let's just hope for sunshine and warm breezes on Saturday the 18th. I hope to see you ALL on the Green! Thanks so much!
