Come learn with Uproot and other organizations about food insecurity and how you can be involved with their efforts in and outside Denver. On September 30th, join Uproot and other food system organization leaders for an interactive discussion around the history, impact and future of food insecurity in our city. Leaders in the Denver food space will share their experiences, and community members can ask questions and learn how to get involved and make positive steps towards supporting our community. The Details: Where: BUILD by Radian - The panel will be held at BUILD, a mission-driven co-working space serving the Denver non-profit community. When: September, 30th, 5:30pm-7:00pm. Come mingle beforehand with the panel starting prompty at 6:00 pm The What: Panelists from organizations working in the food systems space will hold a discussiong covering: The evolution of food insecurity in Denver and who’s impacted mostMisconceptions around of food banks or food insecurityLocal initiatives and organizations focused on solving our biggest challengesCOVID impact and mindset moving forwardFood apartheid in our communityWhat about COVID: To attend, guests must show proof of vaccination (a photo of vaccination card) or a negative COVID test (within 24 hours) at the door. Masks are greatly appreciated and required if not vaccinated. ______________________________________________________________________________ Tell me more: Food insecurity in Colorado has nearly quadrupled in the last year, a challenge that used to impact around 10% of Coloradans now impacts nearly 40% of our state's population. These impacts and inequities, exposed during the height of the of COVID-19 pandemic, will continue to be felt among many families long after we emerge from this health crisis, contributing to ongoing food insecurity in Denver. Local leaders and nonprofits have worked to address food insecurity in our city for decades, and are now calling on the community to acknowledge this protracted crisis and take action. Together, we can address the food insecurity crisis and ensure our neighbors are healthy, safe, and can enjoy the beautiful state we call home.
