Costumed pallbearers compete for the title “Dead Winner” running through a 2 block obstacle course on Pine St., carrying an ominous coffin. A Day at the Coffin Races Down Pine Street Raceway! DATE: Sat., October 30, 2021 beginning at noon (length will vary according to number of entrants) ADMISSION: $100 per team of 4 members (To cover cost of coffin construction- PAYABLE AT TIME OF COFFIN PICK-UP) Sign up closes at midnight on Friday, 9/2 RAW COFFIN PICK-UP: Early October LOOT: Coffin to trick-out, 4 ghoulish medals, 1 winning team is awarded a revolving hand-crafted trophy and 1 one team receives a Peoples Choice award. DETAILS: • Teams will be expected to decorate the coffins and wear costumes in a theme based on their teams brand (Must wear adequate running shoes) • Each heat has two teams of four members- Coffins will have 4 rope handles for carrying, no wheels • Race Track is about a block and a half on Pine St with light obstacle course • Please DO put something IN the coffin! (secure it well) • No humans in the coffin…inanimate objects only (skeletons, mascots etc.) • Go ALL OUT on decorating and adding to it…but don’t alter the structure of the coffin • ‘Dead First’ winners based on a point system: speed + team costumes + coffin decoration • Please leave your coffin at Wehmhoff Square for the Peoples Choice Awards later pick-up TBD Here’s what you need to know: At least three of the four carriers must be in direct simultaneous contact with the coffin at all times during their designated heat/wave until the coffin comes to a complete stop after crossing the finish line. Any coffin that has less than three carriers in direct contact with the coffin during their heat/wave will be deemed “uncontrolled” and the heat/wave will be forfeited, resulting in an unrecorded time. There will no do-overs/redo’s During your designated heat/wave carriers must keep their coffin in the designated lane. Carriers and or coffins interfering with another team’s carriers or coffin as a result of leaving their own lane will be disqualified. Each team will be competing against the clock, and each other’s times. A meeting will be held at Noon prior to the start of the event at 12:30. Attendance is mandatory for at least one individual from each team. The rules and regulations and procedures will be reviewed during this time. Each heat/wave will take place with two coffin teams at a time. Every entrant and participant shall conduct themselves according to the highest standards of behavior and sportsmanship. Should a participant and or team not uphold the events request to conduct themselves appropriately your team may be disqualified upon review from the “Coffin Crew.” Keep it clean and most importantly fun! All participants must NOT be under the influence of alcohol nor any narcotic of any kind. There will be no allowance of alcoholic beverages nor smoking on the race course itself. Any concerns and or matters which need to be addressed shall be brought to the event coordinators, staff, Coffin Crew’s attention by the end of this event (2 pm); otherwise all matters arising from the event shall be considered and accepted as null and void. Participants are responsible for transporting their coffins to the race event. No one under the age of 13 (day of event) will be allowed to physically participate, no exceptions. All minors under the age of 18 will require guardian/parental consent and signature.
