Essay writing uniquely shows writers what and how they think. Whether working on basic phenomenology and articulation (I see this and say that) or on their college essays, the process defines and strengthens the self. We provide the vital peer feedback, editing, and rewriting so often neglected in larger settings.
Speech/Debate develops critical thinking, research, writing, and performance abilities. Confident, persuasive, eloquent public speech integrates social-emotional skills with striving for excellence. Our debates are rooted in current events, which helps makes sense of the world. (It's also fun.)
Instructor Kevin Simmons has taught all kinds of writing, civics, speech and debate, drama and improv, choir, and has led many musicals. Professionally, he was an actor, editor, and opera singer.
Fees: $800/10-week session
