Community gardens create community & so much more CultivaLA is a non-profit organization that is re-imagining urban community vegetable gardens to address the scarcity of nature, places to recreate, and the lack of access to fresh produce in underserved communities in the Los Angeles area. Jose Miguel Ruiz, founder of CultivaLA will be giving a tour of two of his many community gardens. You will learn from this tour how his grassroots efforts can engage people of all ages and provide community and environmental healing. Our morning begins with coffee and muffins at 9am followed by a a tour of the Rosemead Community Garden at : 3224 Del Mar Avenue in Rosemead, CA (Park in the gravel lot on the north side of the site.) And at 10:15 am we will reconvene at CultivaLA’s area in Earthwork Farms at: 1210 Lerma Road in South El Monte, CA (Park in the small asphalt lot on the north side of the site which is on the south side of Lerma Road between Potrero Ave. & Merced/Fawcett Aves.) Attendees to provide their own transportation between the two sites. Event is free to attend.   Registration required to better plan for food and beverage.
