WE INVITE YOU TO DISPELL THE MYTHS OF MEDITATION AND TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE YOUR WELL-BEING First Responders Mindfulness Training "Working in law enforcement can be life-threatening, and not just because of violent encounters. Researchers have linked policing careers to high rates of depression, PTSD, and substance abuse, along with physical ailments like sleeplessness, diabetes, and sudden cardiac death." This course is designed to teach you skills and practices that can help you reduce stress, secondary trauma and increase your sense of wellbeing and joy. This program is a pilot which being partially funded through the generosity of the Staunton Farm Foundation. As such, we are asking for a donation to cover the costs not covered by the grant. The Village Center for Holistic Therapy will provide licensed, trauma informed, therapists to conduct 3 individual sessions with each participant. The purpose of the sessions will be to provide a safe and confidential space to explore the integration of skills learned from the curriculum into work and personal life. Awaken Pittsburgh is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes personal and community well-being through mindfulness programs and compassionate actions.
