Description
The Town of Tiburon seeks an individual with knowledge or experience in facilities maintenance. The ability to work in small teams or independently with limited supervision is a key element of an individual's success in this role. Experience in janitorial and preventative maintenance work is highly desirable, as well as experience diagnosing and repairing plumbing and electrical problems. This position has extensive public contact and customer service-oriented attitude and communication skills are essential. ABOUT THE POSITION: The Town of Tiburon is located just north of San Francisco in Marin County, California. It is accessible by ferry from downtown San Francisco, as well as by automobile from Highway 101 and Highway 131, otherwise known as Tiburon Boulevard. The Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of all public infrastructure owned and managed by the Town of Tiburon. In addition to normal maintenance operations, we are a key agency in responding to emergencies involving our infrastructure as well as weather related events and other disasters that have the potential for adverse impacts to public health or the environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: -Keeps all town-owned facilities in a clean and orderly condition by performing regularly scheduled janitorial services, including but not limited to: cleaning restrooms, offices, common areas, and meeting spaces. -Restocks and maintains inventory of janitorial supplies, equipment, and spare parts. -Make minor repairs to facilities, including but not limited to tasks such as changing lightbulbs, repairing plumbing fixtures, doors, and furniture. -Perform duties such as loading or unloading office equipment and supplies, moving furniture, setting up desks, cabinets, and chairs. -Sets up and breaks down for special indoor and outdoor events in town facilities and parks. -Remove litter from public parks and rights of way. -Respond to internal and external customer service requests. -Prepare work orders, inspection forms and other documents. -Monitor and oversee contractors performing maintenance and/or repair tasks. QUALIFICATIONS: -Experience with janitorial, facilities maintenance, and preventative maintenance schedules and tasks. -Experience diagnosing and repairing plumbing, HVAC, and electrical problems. -Computer literacy with working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems, word processing, and records management. ABILITY TO: -Read and write clearly and follow instructions and directions. -Use a personal computer, digital camera, and smartphone. -Perform a variety of physically strenuous tasks as required. -Frequently lift or move 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds on occasion. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: -One year of facility maintenance or related trade experience. -Equivalent to graduation from high school. -Possession a valid Class C California drivers license. Note: This position requires a work schedule that includes Saturday and Sunday as part of the normal work week.
