FRAMINGHAM, MA — In 2021, the only Framingham City Council race on the Sept. 14 primary ballot is the contest for the open District 7 seat. Patch has sent each of the four candidates a questionnaire to help voters get to know them better. Two of the four District 7 candidates will go on to compete in the November election to replace sitting Councilor Margareth Basilio Shepard, who is stepping down after two terms representing the downtown-area. The four candidates running for the seat are Magda Janus, Eugene Grzywna, Joseph Hansberry and Leora Rose Mallach. Here's what Hansberry says about his 2021 run and stance on local issues: Why are you running for City Council in 2021? I'm running for City council because a bunch of my fellow Framingham citizens asked me to run and I'm one of Framingham's biggest fans and I know how to lead and get good things done. The City Council has approved and extended a multifamily housing moratorium. Where do you stand on that issue, and what do you think residential development should look like in Framingham? Regarding the moratorium on multi family housing. I think it's a smart idea. It's such a big important issue for so many people. As a City Council member, how would you go about working with the mayor's office? I'd introduce myself to the mayor and tell the mayor I'd like to work with the mayor to make Framingham the top places to live in the state of Massachusetts When was the last time you rode a MWRTA bus? Following up on that, how do you think transit should be improved/changed in Framingham? I have yet to ride the bus, but I have two friends who drive for the MWRTA. I use public transportation and I think it's vital to our city and the people on Framingham and people transportation is key to reducing carbon and climate change. What's your favorite restaurant in Framingham and why? Ken's. My family and I have been eating at Ken's since the 70s and I used to deliver seafood there for Captain Bob's in 1980 and 81 to Ken's when I was a young man and it's a great central place with great atmosphere to meet family friends to have fun and a great meal. And their prices are great. I love chicken parm. And their staff and Cooks are second to none
