Description
CHADDS FORD TOWNSHIP, PA — PennDOT has advised southbound U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) motorists to allow extra time next week as a lane closing for road repairs will likely cause backups.
U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) motorists will encounter a southbound lane closure between U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) and Hoffman Mill Road; the lane will be closed all day and night starting Sept. 13 continuing through Sept. 18.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the closure is for concrete patching under a project to repair and resurface approximately 6 miles of U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) in Chadds Ford and Concord townships in Delaware County, and Pennsbury Township, Chester County.
Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will mill, overlay, and rehabilitate the existing pavement; perform concrete patching and concrete base repair as needed; construct new concrete curbed median; install new pavement markings, rumble strips, delineators, and signs; and upgrade guide rail and curb ramps.
Allan Myers, LP of Worcester, of Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $13.7 million project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
PennDOT said the repair work will bring backups and delays. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.
