PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Park District has a couple of events on the docket for later this month, including a skateboard contest Saturday and the Enchanted Ball Sept. 17. From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jeric's Skate Contest will take place at Bott Community Park, 24550 W. Renwick Road. Anyone ages 8 and older competing will have one minute to "show off their best tricks" for a crowd and group of judges. Top scorers will then compete in a second deciding round. Registration for the event will start at 11 a.m., and each participant has to pay an on-site fee of $10. If Jeric's Skate Contest gets rained out Saturday, it'll be rescheduled to Sept. 18. The following Friday, the district is holding the Enchanted Ball from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Prairie Activity and Recreation Center, 24550 W. Renwick Road. "Prince and Princesses put on your most enchanting outfit and join us for a magical evening of dancing, mystical games and exquisite treats," the event description says. Guests will also have the opportunity to get their photos taken with a princess. Open to ages 2 and older, those interested can register for the event for $15 on the park district's website.
