NOVATO, CA — A Marin artist is pushing back against climate change one sculpture at a time. Phyllis Thelen's solo exhibit, "Planet Earth Fights Back," will be on display later this week at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in Novato. Thelen is an experimental artist who creates sculptural forms from organic materials. Her works depicts the environmental disasters that imperil our planet. Thelen has her studio at Mark Drive Studios, a San Rafael artist collective. Climate change, mineral exploitation, overpopulation, and pollution are illustrated in Thelen's three-dimensional sculptures. Thelen's exhibit kicks off Saturday with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit will be on display through Nov. 7. Thelen studied under renowned Japanese artist Toshi Yoshida and received an honorary Ph.D. from Dominican University. For more information visit here.
