ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst School District 205 typically posts agreements that its board approves on its website, but it has yet to do so for the controversial agreement with consultant Jarvis Sanford, who has since resigned. Patch has asked the district twice to post the contract to its BoardDocs page, as it does for other such agreements. But Patch has yet to get an answer. It filed a public records request Wednesday. On Thursday, Patch emailed Beverly Redmond, then the district's communications director, about the reason that the district has not posted Sanford's contract. She answered another question in Patch's email about Sanford's status with the district. She said he had resigned because of a "recent distraction." But she did not respond about the posting of the contract. The distraction was apparently Patch's reporting of Sanford's situation with the Chicago Public Schools. The Chicago district started investigating him after more than 20 administrators complained that he verbally abused them, according to the district's principals association. This could have been discovered with a Google search before the agreement's approval. The "teaching and learning consultant" agreement was approved Aug. 24. He was set to get $800 a day.
