CHICAGO — A man who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head during a police standoff was wanted for the murder of a woman in Kenosha, Wisconsin, police confirmed. Chicago police responded to a call of a man barricaded inside a hotel room on the 6000 block of North Lincoln Avenue at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Officials said Roberto Andino, 52, locked himself in the hotel after learning he was identified as a primary suspect in the death of 35-year-old Janine Sznitko. Sznitko's body was found by Kenosha police Tuesday, the day before the standoff. Officers told Patch they were asked to check on her when she didn't come work. Investigators said the woman died of a single gunshot wound to her chest, and they are treating the incident as a homicide as they await an autopsy. A SWAT team attempted to contact Andino before entering the room but did not hear a response, police said. When they opened the door, police said Andino was dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled his death a suicide after an autopsy Thursday. Andino was a resident of the Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago, records show.
