By Culver City Police Department, Culver City Crossroads September 9, 2021 On Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at about 9:30 PM, Culver City Police officers responded to a 911 call to the Trader Joes location at 6150 Slauson Ave., next to the Westfield Fox Hills Mall, regarding a subject who had locked himself in the restroom and was refusing to leave. Upon the officers' arrival, they discovered that the subject had flooded the facility, and was causing damage to the inside of the restroom. An officer attempted to convince the subject to exit but he refused. The Culver City Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) stepped into the situation and made contact with the subject. After about an hour of negotiation, the CNT de-escalated the situation and was able to convince the subject to exit the restroom. The subject was then safely taken into custody and transported to a local area hospital for further evaluation.
