SMITHTOWN, NY — The Town of Smithtown is set to host its 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 4 p.m. Saturday, according to the town.
The event would take place at 9/11 Memorial Park, located on the north side of Main Street between Bank Street and Landing Avenue in Smithtown.
Families of 9/11 victims, first responders and U.S. Military personnel are due to attend. Family and friends are planned to read the names of the 53 Smithtown residents who were killed 20 years ago during the attacks, followed by a ceremonial wreath-laying by the U.S. Marines.

Due to the coronavirus, the event is planned to be live-streamed via Facebook Live for anyone wishing to participate virtually. Those wishing to pay personal respects can do so by emailing messages or prayers to [email protected]. All personal messages/comments will be included as part of the edited production of the ceremony. All attendees must observe social distancing guidelines, according to the town.
