This position is responsible for all aspects of facilities and ground maintenance for assigned cemetery/funeral home, including assisting with interments. Specific duties may include: 1. Mowing 2. Pesticide and herbicide applications 3. Pruning 4. Landscape maintenance 5. Painting 6. Custodial work (vacuuming, cleaning windows, removing cobwebs and cleaning crypt plates) 7. Assist with opening, closing and setting up graves, niches and crypts for burial 8. Assist with setting markers 9. Assist visitors with finding cemetery locations, always relating to patrons with empathy and concern This position works in a cooperative team environment and requires the ability to take direction from others. Qualified applicants will possess: 1. Verifiable experience in large-scale landscaping and/or cemetery groundskeeping 2. Demonstrable knowledge of grounds and building maintenance, including basic safety practices 3. Skills in grounds maintenance, including pesticide/herbicide application, operation of large riding mowers and hand tools 4. Ability to work within a team atmosphere and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing 5. Interpersonal skills including tact, courtesy and diplomacy 6. Proven, stellar attendance record 7. A valid Oregon Driver’s License with no moving violations in the last 3 years PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, use small motor skills, hear, handle, lift, dig, crawl, etc. Applicants need the ability to climb stairs and lift/move items up to 100 pounds. JOB CONDITION: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, under continual tight deadlines. Work is often performed under harsh weather conditions.
