Looking for Bass and Keys for New Wave originals

Meets

Portland OR

Description

Hey Portland musicians! The Plastic Pets, currently comprised of guitar/vocals and drums, is looking for a bassist and piano/synth player to complete our lineup. If you can sing, great! We’d love to add more back-up vocals to our mix. We are focused primarily on originals with the goal of putting together a tight 45 minute set and playing a show a month with similar acts. Our goal sound is based in the mid to late 70’s and early 80’s, ranging from new wave to art rock, with a touch of upbeat funk and dance-rock. After playing music for many years, there will always be many subconscious influences in our writing, but we are working on perfecting a sound inspired by (in ascending order): - Talking Heads - David Bowie’s Station to Station and his Berlin Trilogy - Blondie - Nico’s Drama of Exile - Talk Talk - Fine Young Cannibals - New Order We like to have a solid practice one a week. Our practice space setup is nice in that we all plug into the board and play with headphones. Easy on the ears and fantastic audio. Super easy to record practice sessions as well. (see video below). We are both in our early 40s with 9-5 jobs. Fellow musicians with similar circumstances is likely best. It’s fine if you are in your 20s and want to get involved with this type of music. Just know we’re not partying hard at practice - just working hard on getting our sound tight and dialed in. We’re also not into politics, religion, etc. Check out our demos (recorded during practice over the past month). If you like what you hear and feel you can add to the sound then we want to meet you. We’ve got more originals in the works, and would be glad to hear yours if you feel they fit with the style we’re trying to achieve.
