TEXT Kristen at 512-342-0306 LKJORDAN is looking for a GARDEN TEMP in our Community Health and Nutrition department. Reporting to the Garden Manager, the primary objective of this position is to assist with landscaping and site cleanup in our Garden. Tasks include a wide range of general labor such as moving materials, digging holes, light carpentry and landscaping tasks. This is a temporary, contract position beginning ASAP and ending September 30, 2021. The schedule is Wednesday – Friday 7:00am-3:00pm. This position pays $18/hour and is not eligible for benefits. As a Garden Temp, you will be: • Cutting and hauling brush • Transporting mulch and soil with wheelbarrows over uneven terrain • Operating motorized landscaping tools such as string-trimmers and mowers • Sanding and painting wood • Pulling and digging out weeds from landscape beds • Gathering, sorting and/or discarding construction debris in dumpsters • Digging shallow trenches to cover drip irrigation lines • Trimming and pruning shrubs, trees and bushes • Performing physically demanding tasks all day long in all weather conditions • Picking up supplies and materials in company vehicle • Other duties as assigned You are a great candidate if you have • Lots of physical energy and enjoy working outside in the heat • Experience working in landscaping, agriculture, construction or similar role • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently, and ask for help when needed • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Bonus points for • Knowledge of organic gardening and native plants • Experience working with volunteers ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, repetitively lift and carry 50 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment. • Conditions may include working inside, working outside in various weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold or rain, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working closely with others, working alone, and traveling by car or van.
