FREE space to show/sell your art! Social Justice Stage Event (1957 S. Kedzie)
Urban Art Retreat volunteers are working on a plan to re-vitalize the area around the Kedzie stop on pink line. We want to build a resource center there.
On Sept. 18 we plan an event at the corner of 21st & S. Kedzie (near the Kedzie stop) called Social Justice Stage. We will have the Larry Taylor Soul Blues Healers band perform. Community advocates like Phil Jackson from Firehouse Arts Center will speak on solutions to Social Justice Issues in our community. Youth from Collaboraction will perform and speak on social justice issues solutions.
We face many issues including domestic violence, child abuse, rape, violence in the streets, police brutality, mental illness, lack of affordable housing, corrupt politicians, homelessness, gangs, racism, sexism, heterosexism, ageism, animal abuse, ill-equipped schools, under funded social programs, & more.
We are looking for speakers & presenters on solutions to social justice issues. Any ideas?
We also have plenty of FREE spaces for vendors & outreach tables for community & social justice organizations. Vendors such as vegan bakers, artists, & artisans are welcome!
