Description
We are a spiritual non-profit organization seeking a Maintenance Technician for our international headquarters located on the crest of beautiful Mount Washington in Los Angeles. In this role, you will be performing general maintenance service and repairs as outlined below. Essential Functions • Perform all repairs and service work required of a plumber, an electrician and a carpenter. • Appliance and equipment repair on washing machines, dryers, toasters, fans, kitchen equipment. • Maintain and repair heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. • Install locks, re-keys and makes new keys; maintains master key system. • Test, inspect and maintain fire and security systems. • Install cement forms, steel reinforcements; calculate quantities and finish concrete. • Determine quantity of flooring material needed, preps floor areas (carpet, vinyl, wood or tile) and order materials and schedule or perform installation. • Weld with Arc, MIG or Ox/Acy to make minor or structural repairs. • Utilizes computers as required. • Generate requisitions for new supplies and equipment. • Estimate time and material costs of various projects. • Perform function of lead worker as requested. • Maintain a clean job site and shop. • Participate in training, orienting and reviewing the work of others. • Other position-related tasks, as assigned. Qualifications • A minimum of eight to ten years demonstrated successful background in plumbing preferred. • Background and experience in a minimum of two of the following skill areas: electrical, carpentry, HVAC, appliance and equipment repair, locksmith work, security systems, cement work, flooring, and welding. • Possess a working knowledge to perform necessary repairs and service in these skill areas. • The ability to apply advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment necessary for the job. • Must hold a state contractor’s license. • Possess the ability to use and maintain a variety of hand and power tools. • Have the ability to serve as a resource to others and resolve questions, problems and some details of the work under minimal supervision. • Knowledge and experience at performing all work in accordance with established safety procedures. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent the organization adequately when dealing with the public. • Capable to function well in a multi-task environment. • Able to honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs desired.
