Call 410-263-4683 extension 10 In the second program of the Art and Wellness Series, Stretch and Sketch, you will: Look and discuss a painting of George Washington by Rembrandt Peale. Choose a painting in the museum’s first floor and sketch while discussing drawing techniques (materials provided.) Do a stretching session in the garden with breathing techniques to help promote good posture and relieve stress. Class description: Megan Houst will be guiding a gentle yoga flow, accessible for all-levels. The practice will be focused to help students tap into their creativity, and connect deeper with mind, body, and soul. Please dress comfortably, bring a mat or a towel and any other props that you use to honor your practice. About: In 2020, Megan completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Blue Lotus Yoga Studio. Through the training, Megan learned more about herself, and what she wanted to share with others through the practice of yoga. She hopes to instill confidence and mindfulness into her students both on and off their mats through breath work, meditation, creative flows, and self-love. The Winifred Gordon Memorial Art and Wellness Series In memory of the talented artist and a founder of the Hammond-Harwood House Museum, Winifred Gordon, this free series, open to the public, will have gallery talks on mediums including painting, ceramics, furniture making followed by a wellness activity. Arts, history, tradition, and heritage all come together in important and unexpected ways that can improve overall health. These programs connect to the art collection to improve participant’s physical health and mental well-being. The mission of the Hammond-Harwood House Association is to preserve, for public education and enjoyment, the architecturally significant Hammond-Harwood House museum and its collection of fine and decorative arts.
