Description
Greet families and assist them as they shop at the Mid-Ohio Foodbank Kroger Community Pantry! Columbus Gives Back and the Mid-Ohio Food Bank need volunteers for the Kroger Food Pantry to take pre-packed bags of food "curb side" to our shoppers waiting in their cars. What: Pantry assistants are needed both inside the traditional pantry and helping us with curbside service. The Mid-Ohio Foodbank is shifting its model of distribution in their on-site pantry to pre-packaged boxes that are being delivered to customer vehicles, thereby minimizing community spread. Volunteers to help prepare these pre-packaged boxes with dairy, protein, produce, bread and shelf-stable food. What to Wear: Because of this new model, we encourage you to bring layers of clothing and any rain gear you might own (i.e. rain jackets, rain boots, etc.) We will continue serving our customers come rain or shine. We will be serving no matter what. You may be serving indoor, or outdoor (or both), please bring all necessary weather gear with you. Where: 3960 Brookham Drive, Grove City, OH 43123. Enter through the food pantry doors on the east side of the building (closest to I-71).Check in at the food pantry office to sign-in. Parking info: Please park in our west lot or our lot across the street from the main building. Our east lot is now used for our curbside pantry service model. Also, on occasion our west lot is used as an "overflow" area for cars lining up for our curbsite pantry. It won't be as bad as leaving a concert or sporting event, but it might take a little longer (: When: Wednesday, October 6th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm Event Leader(s): [email protected] COVID-19 Precautions: Columbus Gives Back is following all recommended social / hygiene protocols. Masks are no longer required for outdoor events but please bring one to the event in case our nonprofit partners require them. Masks and social distancing are still required for all indoor events. If you were exposed before or test positive after having participated in a CGB event, please contact the event leader or reach out to [email protected] so that we can best support contact tracing efforts. About Mid-Ohio Foodbank Kroger Food Pantry: Established in 2012, the Kroger Community Food Pantry operates as a choice food pantry and is open to the community four days a week. Individuals and families with household incomes less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible to receive food from the pantry. About Columbus Gives Back: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals. #SocialTwist: We have begun re-introducing social twists, where we invite volunteers to hang out with us after an event to have fun doing something local! As of May 1st, outdoor/patio social twists will be coordinated at the discretion of event leaders and volunteers. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your event leader or [email protected]. Columbus Gives Back- Service with a Social Twist!www.columbusgivesback.org
