About Cielo: Micro-winery in the Sierra foothills with a dedication to making a wide variety of clean and pure wines from our 18 planted acres of 21 different varietals. Small lot and unique treatment create truly boutique wines. Our wines start their journey with attentive and careful vineyard care. We let nature make each vintage as no two are identical but appreciated for their own merits. We also do not force it, if it's not a good year for "xyz" wine, we won't have an "xyz" wine that year. We believe in minimal impact farming and as natural as possible. About the position: Looking for a full-time Winery, Cellar and Vineyard Assistant. Interested in learning about winemaking and grape growing? You will work closely with winemaker and vineyard manager to accomplish tasks and duties. Works directly on the winemaking side to help produce final product as well as general vineyard upkeep and maintenance. Constantly changing jobs and pace, never a dull moment in the wine world. Winery experience not essential, just hard-working and positive attitude. We will train and educate the right person. Small business so our staff is cross-trained and handle many different facets of business outside of their primary title. Days and hours worked is flexible to some degree. Normally Monday-Friday 8-4:30. Essential duties: -Maintain/perform cellar cleanliness and equipment sterilization -Assist in any winery operation: harvest, crush, pressing, bottling, barreling, blending, etc -Operational set-up and tear-down -Vineyard work: canopy management, irrigation systems, crop sampling, pest identification, fence check, targeted weed removal, equipment operator, etc -Bonded wine case movement to tasting room for retail sales -Basic lab work and data collection -Equipment operation, forklift, utv, tractor Other possible duties: -Assistance with any on-site wine event set-up and/or tear-down -Assist groundskeeper with odd jobs and tasks for property upkeep -Assist with general upkeep of our vacation rental house at adjoining property. -Overall property help and assistance Qualifications: -Must have a positive attitude and a desire to learn -Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid Drivers Licenses -Ability to properly lift and carry 55 lbs repetitively -Ability to stand, bend, lean, work physically for extended periods of time -Physical labor: including digging, bending over, walking on uneven ground, lifting, etc -Ability to work in all weather conditions such as heat, rain, wind, cold, etc -Excellent time management skills -Ability to multi-task while working with little supervision, and is a team oriented -Strong problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills -Flexible with work tasks and pace While some winery experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right person.
