KidsPeace Raleigh is hosting a 5K fundraiser to raise money for our Children's Fund, which provides support to our children and families. Lace up your sneakers and get ready to run with KidsPeace Raleigh! Join us November 6, 2021 as we celebrate fall and raise money to support kids in foster care. The event is rain or shine; you may run or walk . T-shirts are included for each person who registers, and will also be available for purchase at the event. KidsPeace Foster Care and Community Programs is a private, nonprofit organization providing mental health services to children and families in the Triangle and surrounding areas. Our primary service is therapeutic foster care, which serves children and teens ages 5-21 with mental health and emotional needs. We are hosting this fundraiser to raise money for our children's fund, which is used to provide extra support for our foster children and foster parents throughout the year. Considering the impact COVID has had on our way of life, these funds are more vital than ever before! Our kids have struggled to adapt to social distancing, isolating/quarantine, remote learning, etc. The needs of our kids has increased as they have required more resources and support to cope with this new way of life. As such, the KidsPeace team has been compelled to be more creative in identifying appropriate resources to support kids and work through the transition back into the classroom, and resuming participation in extracurricular activities. Our newest endeavor is our 1st Annual Fall 5K Run. The funds raised from this event will assure that the needs of our kids are met. Many of these children have not had the opportunity to explore and enjoy what it truly means to be a child. Currently, we have more than 20 kids in care in the Triangle area, and each one of them is wishing for an exciting, adventure-filled rest of 2021. All funds raised go directly to the children we serve right here in Wake, Durham, Johnston, Franklin, Granville, Orange and Warren counties.
