Description

Midwifery skill share for BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+ and Co-Conspirators This is an invitation to cultivate belonging and practice midwifery skills in a safe(r) container in community with other BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA2S+ student midwives and co-conspirators. This space is committed to accountability and growth, learning, trust and creating pockets of JOY. A note on community and identity: "at minimum, identity can be a crucial space from which to organize across shared experience. but identity doesn’t equal, or promise, community. community is a place to practice and participate in care, attention, knowing and being known, being protected, having room to make mistakes and still belong…not just allowed to be there, but be valuable…to heal. to recover. community feels responsible for each other." -Adrienne Maree Brown Definition of Co-Conspirator: "co-conspirators are people who are actively fighting against the system of white supremacy and in particular the benefits they receive from it." -Alicia Garza Reminder that we are living in a global pandemic, please do not come if you are not feeling well. Masks required. Feel welcome to bring snacks and supplies to share. Week One: Fetal Heart Tones, Leopold's Maneuvers and Physical Exam/Vitals Week Two :Blood Draw Bingo/ Phlebotomy/Venipuncture/IM injections/ IV practice Week Three: Cervical Exams, PAP, Pelvimetry Week Four: Qualitative Blood Loss/EBL & Placentas Week Five: Birth Self Care, Assesment +more Week Six: Storytelling This is a Donation-Based offering with a reccomended donation of $15-30 to cover expenses of materials, venue and labor of organizers.
