Eastern Manatee County Road Closures Start Monday

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Morgan Johnson Road (57th Street East) and 44th Avenue East will be closed between 38th Avenue East and Caruso Road (60th Street East) while work is completed on the 44th Avenue East Roadway Extension Project. The road closures will begin Monday at 9 a.m. and is expected to last three months, ending Dec. 17, the county said on Facebook. The project will realign Morgan Johnson Road and 44th Avenue East south to Caruso Road. It will also improve existing portions of 44th Avenue East, adding bike lanes, drainage improvements, roadway lighting, and improvements to the wastewater and water utility systems, the county said. Once completed, the 44th Avenue East Roadway Extension Project will provide an additional east-west connection to residents between Lakewood Ranch and the barrier islands. Like what you're reading? Motorists traveling in this area are encouraged to find alternative route.
