We are a busy design, build, and maintenance landscaping company seeking a dedicated maintenance/installation gardener. Willing to train the right candidate. Our passion is small scale permaculture food systems. We also design/install/maintain native and drought tolerant gardens throughout the East bay. Our ideal candidate wants a career, not a job. lots of room for growth within the company. We have a 401K plan, and are striving to offer full medical and dental coverage. Desirable experience, but not necessary: Fruit tree pruning and grafting. Irrigation installation, maintenance, and repair. Knowledge of plant species names and growth habits. Knowledge of common weeds ( and a love of pulling them). Familiarity with permaculture principles, organic gardening methods, and composting. Construction experience. Carpentry, masonry, and/or concrete pouring. Ideal candidate has: Their own transportation to and from job sites in Berkeley, Oakland and vicinity. Knowledge of plant identification and care. Basic tools- Felco’s, hori hori, shovel, rake, loppers, etc. Experience installing and maintaining edible and ornamental gardens. Aesthetic pruning skills. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, excellent time management, and an ability to hustle. Physical requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs. of weight frequently throughout the day. Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, lift, push and pull materials and equipment to complete job tasks. Ability to work in various positions including, but not limited to, standing, walking, stooping, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extending periods. Please reply with: 1.
