POSITION SUMMARY The Buck Institute is looking for a Facilities Assistant to join our team. The Facilities Assistant provides hands-on general facilities maintenance for the Buck Institute’s buildings and grounds. Working under the supervision of the Facility Manager or Engineer, this individual assists with a variety of day-to-day facilities and maintenance related tasks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Respond to building occupant maintenance/repair requests, ensuring requests are fulfilled timely. Contact repair companies as necessary. Assist with preventive maintenance tasks. Ensure all building systems are operational and are maintained according to institute policies, environmental regulations, building codes, and local/national regulations. • Assist with building and office space projects including build-out, renovations, and office moves. May meet with vendors and obtain cost estimates for space-related projects and assist with furniture setup and relocation. • Assist with building inspector visits and facility safety inspections. Communicate and escalate any issues that arise. • Oversee vendors working on Buck facilities. May obtain bids for vendor services (e.g., janitorial, landscape, HVAC, etc.) and present to facilities leadership for review. Ensure vendor services are performed properly and timely, promptly escalating issues as needed. Validate the accuracy of vendor invoices. • Assist with oversight of major facility construction projects which may include obtaining building permits. • Perform daily/weekly/monthly tasks to ensure facilities meet appropriate standards and appearance. Help prepare for meetings, events, and company functions as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma/GED Required • 2 + years’ work experience as a handyman or in a related skilled trade • Knowledge of electrical, HVAC and other construction trades preferred • Basic computer skills desirable • Cooperative with excellent customer service skills • Flexible and willing to perform all assigned tasks • Attention to detail; meticulous and accurate ABOUT US Our success will ultimately change healthcare.
